My goal is to combine knowledge learned from both areas of concentrations to help me in a future career. I would like to work with and conduct research on children and adolescents in minority families. I'm interested in the way that parenting affects child development and attachment styles. I believe that parenting is very important for children when learning about the world around them. All knowledge for human beings starts with the parents. They introduce infants to their first experiences and they help them understand.
In regards to this course, I am interested in America's representations of Africa because there are a vase amount of myths associated with the culture and society of Africa. I would like to understand how these myths are constructed and what affect they have on our knowledge of Africa as outsiders.
